Cheats Gravy


In life we sometimes crave the more simple pleasures but can’t stand to bear the time consuming methods required in order to get them. After all, if something is labour intensive, it loses that simplicity.

Gravy is one of those seemingly simple things in life that, when made traditionally, requires a whole roast to be cooked so you can gather the juices! Hardly simple at all! But that doesn’t mean we don’t want something as simple as Chips and Gravy, or left over Pork & Gravy sandwiches (with fresh gravy, obviously), and it’s not conducive to make it the traditional way under those circumstances.

Of course there are such wonders as instant Gravy powders, but sometimes these run out or you’re unable to consume them due one allergy or another. For those people, this is my Cheats Gravy, ready in less than 3 minutes!

What Will I Need?

1 Beef Stock Cube
1 Chicken Stock Cube
1 tbs Cornflour
1 cup hot water

What Now?

1.             In a small saucepan add both stock cubes and the cornflour. Using a fork, mash these three ingredients together until combined.

2.             Pour in a small amount of water, and mix into the stock cube/cornflour mush until a paste has formed.

3.             Add the remaining hot water and bring to the boil over a high heat and allow to boil for approximately 1-2 minutes or until thickened.

4.             Quick, easy and ready to be served with your meat and/or vegetables for dinner!
